Welcome to GLOBAL PROBLEM SOLVING Small teams tackling big issues As a member of a small team you will work with others to explore complex global problems. You will identify the causes and effects related to three global issues. You will apply business knowledge to address a range of possible solutions and recommendations for the problem.
Before you set out tackling the big issues your team will familiarize themselves with problem solving techniques and gain experience in using problem solving tools. As a member of a productive team you will be expected to take responsibility for your own and your group’s learning. It is important that deadlines are met and that all group members contribute effectively to the process.

Your team will recognise the issues surrounding recession, social media and natural disasters.
Your team will identify the causes and effects of each global issue.
Your team will undertake a problem-solving process to identify a range of possible solutions to each global problem.
Finally, each individual member of the team will recommend a commercially viable solution to a given global issue and consider the consequences of this solution for the organisation.
Assessment Criteria
There are three assessed aspects to this unit of work. Bear these in mind as you work through the topic:
You will be preparing an individual portfolio as you progress through each topic. Ensure that you follow the directions on the 'checkpoint' section of each page. This will ensure you don't miss any part of the portfolio work.
You will be judging your own contributions to the group via a self-assessment rubric.
Your group members will be judging you on your contributions to the group using a peer-assessment rubric.
